Video Explained

This month, as part of my coursework in Project and Portfolio V at Full Sail University, I undertook a comprehensive audio redesign for a demo video game titled “The Blacksmith”. The accompanying video showcases my personal title card, a cinematic cutscene from the game, a gameplay segment, and a concluding contact card.

The majority of the soundscape was constructed using original Foley recordings, creatively produced with various household items and appliances to bring authenticity and texture to the audio environment. For more complex elements, such as ambient wind, fire, and thunder effects, I sourced high-quality samples from reputable online libraries to complement my Foley work. Additionally, I incorporated synthesized elements: one created using Fruity Loops Studio and another designed in Pro Tools, adding further depth and variety to the overall sound design.

Character vocalizations were recorded through direct performance, yes, that includes me shouting into the microphone, which brought an organic and personal touch to the characters' expressions.

This project has been both an incredibly educational and creatively fulfilling experience. Despite its challenges, it has significantly strengthened my skills in sound design and post-production, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in such an engaging and hands-on way.
